Of the e-mails I've received from
readers who have discovered Tales of a War Far Away, many express their gratitude for the
service and the sacrifice that Vietnam veterans, and all veterans have made for America.
To each of you who served in the Armed Forces of the United States, I hope
that you will read these letters of tribute as though they were written personally
to you, as a token of thanks from your fellow citizens and from a grateful nation for your
dedication, your courage, your willingness to serve when called, and for your sacrifice.
Joseph L. Del Rosso I have just finished reading your web site Tales of a
War Far Away and I just wanted to express my deepest thanks for your publishing
(posting) this story. I am 42 years old and therefore was too young (thank
god) for the Vietnam war draft and never quite understood exactly what it was like over
there. Sure, I saw the movies and read many of the books about that time in our
history, but your saga brought it all to life. I found myself cringing at times and
at others wondering just how the people in our armed forces where able to cope in those
trying times.
I remember well the unrest that was taking place in the states over the war, and as I
think back about the way some of my friends and relatives treated the returning veteran I
am ashamed. I know you and your comrades in arms devoted (either willingly or not) a
valuable part of your life to this country. For the country to have treated you all
the way it did back then was/is a black spot on our history. Although, over time
however belatedly the United States in finally recognizing the sacrifice you folks did for
us all.
I know this letter may be a bit unusual but I just had to try and write you and send a big
THANK YOU!!!. Thank You for what you did for our country, thank you for being
there when called on and thank you for writing your story.
I have now (and always did have) a deep respect and feeling of gratitude for what all
veterans have done for me. I know that with people like you willing to serve this country,
with all its trials and tribulations, has nothing to fear. You and those like
you are what make America the greatest country on the face of this troubled earth.

B.A. "Brent" McIver
... I have always appreciated the men and women who have
served this country in times of conflict. After reading and hearing first hand
accounts of what Nam was all about, it is glaringly apparent that all who served in
Vietnam did so with one hand tied behind their back.
To me, this elevates those who served in Vietnam to the standards accorded to WWII vets,
yet much of this country did not feel so at the time, but some, are finally coming to
begrudgingly respect your efforts.
I simply want to say thank you for your sacrifice, your obvious diligence to Duty, Honor
and Country.

Ke-Li (Taiwan) I visited
your web site recently and found it very informative and objective. I appreciate
your (Allied forces) contribution and sacrifice to repulse the invasion from
Soviet/Chinese Communisim. I know many Allied soldiers gave their lives in that humid
jungle. It's a shame that nowadays some people forget it at all and simply take the
freedom they enjoyed for free.

Theresa Fico ...I personaly
want to thank all that served. I am amazed at the strength of spirit of everyone involved
and give you credit for carrying on and protecting my freedom.
